Happy Holidays, ladies! Join us for the last ride of 2021 for December’s Women on Wheels (WoW) ride on Sunday, December 19th at 8:00 a.m. *Please note, we've changed our ride with a little less mileage, but about the same amount of climbing. After scouting the original Toluca Lake route, we've decided to change it up a bit - there were just too many uncomfortable traffic situations and not many holiday decorations to experience as in years past.*

We will be doing the Kenneth Village Loop. We will begin at the Rose Bowl Aquatic Center and head toward La Canada working our way up Highland and then to the top of Chevy Chase Drive. From the Rose Bowl to the top of Chevy Chase is approximately 4-miles and 570 feet of climbing, this is definitely the most challenging part of the ride…cold muscles, slow climbing, and chilly air.  The top of Chevy Chase is a great place for each group to re-group before the long, fast, and chilly descent.

We then meander through Glendale neighborhoods on Mountain Street, Kenneth Road, and Cumberland. After a straight shot down Señora Ave., we will ride along Zoo Drive which is the outside loop that encircles Griffith Park. We will exit Griffith Park at Los Feliz Blvd. and jump onto the LA River trail for a 2 mile ride through Frog Town and stopping for coffee at either Spoke Cafe or La Colombe.

Once we have been rejuvenated with some yummy coffee and a pastry, compliments of WoW, we head back via Fletcher, Eagle Rock Blvd and York into South Pasadena and take the Arroyo Parkway back to the Rose Bowl.

The route starts and ends at the Aquatics Center at the Rose Bowl is https://www.strava.com/routes/2906755616549129410 - 29 miles and 1,681 ft of climbing. Thank you to Debbie Mitchell for the route. Please upload the route to your cycling computer prior to the ride.
