PAA Cycling Club Supported Ride December 12, 2021 CSR Historic Montrose Ride
PAA's monthly rides are supported in part by: AgnewBrusavich & Nancy Bond Insurance Enjoy the most well known ride in Southern California. the Historic Montrose Ride. This ride has been taking place since the mid 1950's and it's really a must for cyclists at all levels. Many of you have been on sections of the short and long rides, but this gives you a primer to do the whole thing! We will follow the normal start at Trader Joe's in South Pasaena and end in the town of Sierra Madre, with our PAA lunch in Memorial Park. Route Details: The Montrose ride starts at Trader Joe's in South Pasadena. it heads east along Huntington Blvd, Longden and Arrow Highway before heading back west in Azusa and ending in Sierra Madre. This is a mostly flat ride, with some rolling hills and a short climb to the end in Sierra Madre. You will have lunch at Memorial Park and then ride back home or to Trader Joe's to get you car... just like everyone on the weekly Montrose ride does! There is also a long route that splits off onto Gladstone and heads east to San Dimas, just past the 57 Fwy you turn north at San Dimas Avenue and then back west along Hwy 66. then it's west on East Sierra Madre, past Encanto Park up the famous Bradbury short climb. We then go west on Foothill and up to Sierra Madre for the finish.. Guests are requested to donate $10 to help with support costs. The short route offers 31miles and 300' of elevation gain and the long route offers 43 miles with 700' of elevation gain. The ride back to Trader Joe's in South Pas is about 9 miles from Sierra Madre. STRAVA LINKS:
