This is not a beginner gravel ride. All riders are responsible for riding the route within their skill level and navigation. All should be competent to ride typical trails found in the LA area. All riders should ensure their bikes are in good working order and be capable of fixing flats and making trail repairs as may be required. The route is not marked, each group will have 2 ride leaders to facilitate the route finding for the group only, they are not responsible for your route finding or fixing you or your bike in the event of an issue. Regroups will cater to the majority of the group, if you have an issue or can't keep the pace of the group then you should anticipate that the group will not wait unduly for you.
About this event
First Club Supported Dirt Ride (CSDR) of 2024! The ride will be gravel bike focused and take in some great gravel friendly areas - Ebey Canyon, the Graveyard Truck Trail and the Verdugos. You will still have a great time if you want to join on a mountain bike!
Meeting at Descanso Gardens in La Canada, we will follow the roads for a short stint into Cherry Canyon. After climbing to the top we will descend into the Glendale sports complex and connect to our next section of dirt, Las Flores Motorway. This climb will take us to the Verdugo motorway and we will use this to traverse to Hostetter fire road. After descending Hostetter we will meet up with our SAG at La Tuna Canyon Road.
Following refuel, we will make a big loop of Sunland and Tujunga (clockwise) finishing on the Graveyard Truck Trail. After this its all down hill to the lunch meetup at Montrose community park!
We plan to have two start times, please roll with the one that most suits your level:
8:00am Group - Aimed for less experienced gravel riders: you will be more cautious at descending and tackling trail obstacles.
8:30am Group - Aimed at more experienced gravel riders: you will feel more comfortable at descending and tackling trail obstacles.
