About this event

WE-ride, Sunday, July 21, 8:00 AM - Seven City Shade Excursion

What could be finer than to ride along shady local streets on a warm summer’s day? Our route this Sunday explores the loveliest tree-lined parts of seven local cities, starting from Descanso Gardens in La Cañada-Flintridge, descending into Pasadena and South Pasadena, meandering through San Marino, then over to Arcadia and Sierra Madre before returning through Altadena. At the end of the ride, Gio’s Café and Handel’s Ice Cream in LCF are waiting for us!

Start Time: 8:00 AM on Sunday, July 21, in front of Descanso Gardens.

Route for Download: https://ridewithgps.com/routes/47585985. The route covers 34.6 miles with ~2100 feet of climbing.

Weather Forecast: Sunday is forecast to be very sunny and quite warm. We are monitoring the forecast, which has been showing higher temperatures, and will update if needed. Right now, Sunday may have highs well into the 90s, but we should be done while it’s still in the upper 80s. Bring plenty of water!

Riders will have the opportunity for coffee and pastry at Gio’s or ice cream at Handel’s near the end of the ride. (https://maps.app.goo.gl/rUzuw9dH4wBtRLXR7?g_https://maps.app.goo.gl/SWMtPXxvaNBfb7n3A).

Please keep the following in mind when joining the WE Rides:

• Download the route prior to arrival.

• Be self-sufficient, prepared to handle flats and minor bike repairs.

• Carry a cell phone in case of emergency or to get that Uber ride needed every once in a while. (Be aware, however, that cell phone reception on many WE-ride routes in the San Gabriel Mountains is very limited).

This is an informal self-supported ride and not an official PAA sponsored ride. Neither PAA, the ride leaders, nor the route creators should be held responsible for any accident or injury that may occur during the ride. Please ride safely.
