About this event

WE-ride, Sunday, August 11, 8 AM - Norumbega

We’re taking advantage of the slightly cooler weekend that's coming to try a new local route, inspired in part by OSCAR rides. The route stretches from Descanso Gardens to Monrovia and Bradbury‘s hills, heading east via the Arroyo, San Marino, and Arcadia, and returning through Sierra Madre and Altadena. The turn-around point is on scenic Norumbega drive, which winds along the edge of the San Gabriel mountains in Bradbury.

On the way back to Descanso, riders have the option of riding through the scenic Hahamongna Watershed park and the neighborhood north of Foothill, or of crossing the bridge over the 210 to Highland Avenue and Berkshire Avenue before stopping at Gio‘s Café for their excellent cold brewed coffee and tasty pastries. This route covers about 43.2 miles with 2600 feet of climbing.

Please keep the following in mind when joining the WE Rides:

• Download the route prior to arrival.

• Be self-sufficient, prepared to handle flats and minor bike repairs.

• Carry a cell phone in case of emergency or to get that Uber ride needed every once in a while. (Be aware, however, that cell phone reception on many WE-ride routes in the San Gabriel Mountains is very limited).

This is an informal self-supported ride and not an official PAA sponsored ride. Neither PAA, the ride leaders, nor the route creators should be held responsible for any accident or injury that may occur during the ride. Please ride safely.
