Here is a heads-up on our planned alternative ride idea for January's WoW ride. Typically, we reserve the last Sunday of the month to connect as a group and ride together. During Covid restrictions, we ride the planned route individually at our own leisure and connect on social media by sharing photos and a little info on our ride experience. So, here is the route and some details for January 31st:

https://www.strava.com/routes/2781621105496912276 Easy starter for January, the Emerald Necklace Loop is a quick, easy, and mostly flat route almost entirely on bike paths. It will take you along two waterways, the San Gabriel River Trail which connects with the Rio Hondo at the Whittier Narrows region. Pace yourself while traveling along the entire El Monte airport for one long mile, and for an extra challenge, reverse the loop before exiting the bike path for double the mileage. This way, you will certainly be avoiding main roads the entire way if you start the ride at Encanto Park in Duarte. We have designed this route to create a path with the least amount of traffic exposure, but feel free to explore the surrounding cities of Arcadia, Monrovia, Irwindale, Azusa for additional climbing or mileage challenges at your convenience.

Upload the Strava route to your device and happy riding! If you need help loading the route onto your Garmin device, check out our blog.
