Join us for August's Club Supported Ride (CSR): Carbon Canyon on August 21! We will be parking, meeting and having lunch at Incycle in San Dimas. The Carbon Canyon loop is a great, but challenging ride mixed with steep punchy climbs, fast downhill sections, and few long flat sections. Overall, you will be doing more climbing than anything else. The route has sneaky elevation, as it gives the appearance of a flat/rolling hills ride, but you will climb almost 4,000 ft. Most of the roads are in good to very good condition, other than a ½ mile section of Brea Canyon Road that will have a few large potholes.
The key to really enjoying this route is pacing. As the ride goes on and the heat starts to rise, the climbs get steeper. I believe that the hardest climb is at the beginning of the ride on Grand Ave. but the Mt. Sac and Via Verde climbs will hit you when your body is all but ready to quit. After the Via Verde climb, it’s pretty much all downhill back to Incycle.
