A few weeks ago on January 7, blasts of icy wind forced us to cancel our planned Weekend Endurance ride. Let’s take advantage of a calmer Saturday this weekend (with rain bearing down soon after), to get back on the “Elephant Route” (see the map to understand the name!). The route starts at Descanso Gardens, and drops down Verdugo before swinging west at Griffith Park. After climbing to the ridge, the route winds up and down in the Griffith Park hills before returning up Verdugo to Descanso.
The current forecast for Saturday includes a mix of clouds and sun in the morning with a high of 59°. There is some chance of showers later in the day. Bring layers for a cool morning, and (if the forecast calls for it), some rain protection for an early spatter if it happens.
Start Time: 8:00 AM at Descanso Gardens in La Cañada-Flintridge.
