About this event

Join us for September's Club Supported Ride (CSR): Tour de Palos Verdes on Sunday, September 15! The ride begins and ends Playa Del Rey. We ride south along the PV perimeter enjoying wonderful views of the Pacific Ocean. There is so much diverse beach life to look at as you ride. The weather is cool and inviting and ending at the beach for lunch is a real pleasure.

Meet at Del Rey Lagoon Park in Playa del Rey (aka Lagoon Park). Lagoon Park is at 6899 Pacific Ave., Playa del Rey.  Take Culver off the 90 (Marina Fwy) close to the end, turn right onto Esplanade (few city blocks past Vista del Mar) and go a block or so. Park at the lot on the left off of Esplanade, next to restrooms; riders can park in this small lot or nearby on the street. Additional large parking lot on Pacific Ave. Carpooling is strongly suggested. The park will also be a perfect place to have lunch after the ride.

Start out of Del Rey Lagoon Park head to Culver Blvd turn Right on to Culver and weave our way onto the Beach Bike Path.  Enjoy the beach ride through El Segundo, Manhattan Beach exit onto Hermosa Blvd and into Redondo Beach and Palos Verdes.

Because of the infamous erosion of the Portuguese Bend stretch and road closures along Palos Verdes South this well liked annual route has changed.  Still the same start location and roughly the same mileage, with a new climbing challenge and even more spectacular views.

NUTRITION
You are responsible for bringing and carrying all your food and drinks on all of our rides. The SAG stops (except for lunch) are there to supplement you, in case you run out of food or need a little extra boost.
**We ask you not to take more food than you need at each stop, as you’re taking food away from the riders behind you. We have enough food for the amount of riders we have registered.

For those of you who asked for Plant Based or Gluten Free on our survey, we've stocked our two SAG stops on this ride for you, but you will need to ask the SAG volunteer for them (as the snacks won't be on the tables).

THINGS TO REMEMBER:

  • All riders should be prepared to do minor repairs on the road (e.g., change a flat)
  • Due to the challenging nature of most club supported rides, groups will invariably form and split up en route depending on riders levels of fitness, training goals, etc.
  • For your safety, a helmet is mandatory on PAA rides.
  • Check the forum and event page before the ride, in case of inclement weather which may result in a change of the route or cancellation of the event.
  • Guests are welcome, but must also RSVP (guest ticket), sign a ride waiver, and make a $20 donation.
