The WE-Ride for Saturday, February 24, will take our popular Turnbull Canyon route, climbing from Whittier over Turnbull Canyon, stopping for yummy treats at the 85° C Bakery in Hacienda Heights, then climbing south over the hills and winding along the scenic East and West Drives back to Whittier. Starting at Sierra Madre Memorial Park, we head east and south to catch the SGRT below Santa Fe Dam, and cruise down the river to the Whittier Greenway Trail before starting up Turnbull Canyon. At the end of the ride, we head back up the SGRT and the Rio Hondo trails to get back to Sierra Madre.
The current weather forecast for Saturday indicates partly cloudy and a high reaching 68° - excellent cycling weather!
Route Note: on the way back to Sierra Madre, the route leaves the Rio Hondo Parkway at Santa Anita Avenue (the dam crossing before Peck Park is likely closed because of water, and no one wants to ride on Peck Road!) . Cross under the Santa Anita Ave bridge and make a sharp right to double back, then turn right across the bridge, then right again on West Hondo Parkway, which turns into Tyler, which turns into 2nd Ave.
Start Time: 8:00 AM at Sierra Madre Memorial Park
