About this event
Join cyclists worldwide in a silent slow-paced ride (max 12 mph) in honor of those who have been injured or killed while cycling on public roadways. The Ride of Silence began in 2003 at White Rock Lake in Dallas, Texas, because of a local cyclist, Larry Schwartz, was killed by a bus mirror while riding his bike. Friends and family of Larry organized a memorial bike ride for him and in 10 days, they drew in 1,000 cyclists through word of mouth and email communication. That's how the Ride of Silence came to be and now 45 states and the world participates every year on the third Wednesday in May to ride in silence for our friends and loved ones.
If you haven't experienced, we urge you to do so. PAA will be meeting at 5 p.m. for a pre-Ride of Silence ride at the north end lot of LOT K. Rick Caputo will be your leader!
