7th Annual Tour de Sponsors 2019 ride!

We celebrated PAA club sponsors on 7th annual Tour de Sponsors 2019 club ride and Cinco de Mayo lunch on Sunday, 5/5/19.

We started the ride at the PAA Presenting Sponsor RE/MAX | The Loeffler Team Real Estate office in San Marino. Pete and Lisa Loeffler welcomed the over 71 ride participants. Tour de Sponsors route designer Nathan Miller of MATT Construction provided our pre-ride talk and led our 26.6 mile ride. He came up with the idea of a club ride taking members to club sponsors locations seven years ago and has been designing the Tour de Sponsors Ride course all seven years! It was a great course, Nathan!

Sue Thompson and Mike Louviere provided fantastic SAG support, cheered us along the route, set up both rest stops and held all the Sponsor Choice Awards won by participants throughout the ride.

Then we were off to Park Place Dental where Dr. Bob Shimasaki and Cleo the canine met us. Rick Caputo was the lucky winner of the Park Place Dental Sponsors Choice Award of a restaurant gift certificate for wearing the most PAA accessories today!

We took a quick jaunt over to Supporting Sponsor Incycle Bicycles where Rico and Mark opened the shop for us to see and buy our cycling supplies. We enjoyed bagels, coffee and juice at this first rest stop.

Nathan took us through roads many of us hadn’t ridden before to get to The Dynamic Advantage where new club sponsor Rick Caputo welcomed us into his gym and gave us a quick lesson in exercises that are great for cyclists.

Then, it was the KOM/QOM sprinters’ climb to the top of a Colorado Blvd hill where The Invention of Cheeseburger historical landmark plaque is located. Nathan Miller crowned KOM Jonathan Lang and QOM Ariana Peck with Burger King crowns adorned with the PAA club logo.

At the top of that same climb, Rick Caputo presented his Sponsors Choice Awards to the Serfs of the Mountain, Connie Kim and Marco Pedemonte. As Jumpstart Award winners, they will each receive a 90-minute consultation with Trainer Rick and participation in six personalized Dynamic Strength Training sessions at The Dynamic Advantage.

Ryan Weeks and Michael Hagler of sponsor Around the Cycle greeted us at the next rest stop. Many members took the opportunity to purchase their PAA socks and other accessories. Juan Urias won the Around the Cycle Sponsor Choice Award. Today was his first club supported ride as a new PAA club member.

Nathan Miller then led us over the Colorado Bridge to the USC Asian Pacific Museum to tell us about sponsor MATT Construction’s recent retrofit project for the museum.

Sponsor Scott Hood of First Wilshire Securities Management, Inc. rode with us to his office for a quick overview of his business and another photo op. Scott is a new club sponsor this year.

We rode back to Pete & Lisa Loeffler’s RE/MAX office for the Cinco de Mayo festivities. We enjoyed the tacos, margaritas and beer with our club sponsors and fellow club members on festively decorated tables.

The fun wasn’t over yet. Rick Babington of Positive Moves Professional Training Services raffled a ReTul bike fit for lucky two-time 2019 TdS award winner Juan Urias.

Lunch hosts Pete & Lisa Loeffler raffled a Tour of California VIP experience to Chi Ao. Pete and Lisa had another surprise for us! Blind-folded President Dennis McCullough took a good swing at the RE/MAX balloon piñata filled with candies. Sweets were shared with all.
